Pumpkin Spice & New Life (in Christ)

Writer's picture: Miranda CookMiranda Cook

After nine months of changes and three goals I had set forth, it is time to mix it up.

Over the past 9 months, my eyes were set upon these three goals:

Weight Loss - I gained some weight after moving to a new town due to stress and other factors. I lostwhat I gained! Win!

Career Goals - Read Obedient to learn more about this journey.

Saving Money - Woo I did it! I saved some money to build back up savings. Goal. Crushed.

What is next? Have you taken the time to look at Faith + Goals? Well I can tell you it is going to be more of that...

1. Continue the weight loss goal

I would like to loose 10 more pounds but according to the calendar at the doctor's office, I need to lose about 18. So we will see what happens there. In reality, my overall goal is to be happy and love my body. My real goal? Love myself the way God loves me. But I also want to make sure I take care of the body he gave me as a gift (one of many gifts).

2. Build some routines

This is just going to be fun! Here is how I am going to break it down.

Monthly Routine

Create an online bible study - check out Faith + Goals, Romans is on its way!

Read a book - What have I been reading? Funny you should ask - Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, The Charisma Myth by Olivia Fox Cabane, Create Dangerously by Edwidge Danticat, Life Without Lack by Dallar Willard, and many more! What is next? Mindset by Carol Dweck

Write a love letter to my future husband - let's continue what we did in 2017!

Weekly Routine

Meditate - I need to learn to just chill. This is going to be hard for me to accomplish. That is why it is a goal!

Complete a random act of kindness - Buy someone coffee? Spend extra time talking about someone else? Knit a scarf for someone? Cook someone dinner? The list goes on.

Find a research article for my Ph.D. goals - I want to have a good stock pile for when the day comes and I am on my way to Dr. Cook.

Reach out to my friends for prayer requests - I have a friend that does it via snapchat which I think is a great way to reach people!

Disciple - It has always been on my heart to dsiciple college women who are new believers. That is where my heart is drawn. This is a work in progress.

Daily Routines

Exercise - every morning, bright and early! Sometimes an evening walk with Henry.

Journal - learn more about what my journaling looks like here!

Be more grateful - write down 3 gratitudes at the end of each day.
